In order to make sure you’re on the right path to finish the dissertation as quickly as possible, be sure to elicit and accept regular feedback. You can get regular feedback from your advisor, writing group, a spouse, friend, or colleague. The important thing is to actually seek it out. It’s too easy to become insular in our writing and lose track of our audience. By regularly seeking out feedback, you increase the chances that your project is going in the right direction. If your project is going in the right direction, it makes sense to think that you’ll finish much more quickly.
