An important element for dissertation time management: you need to stay aware of both task AND time parameters in order to meet your goals most effectively. Most of the time, ABD’s dive into the dissertation work and work forwards, without ever clearly defining the time and task parameters. They keep working, working, and working, without having a clear sense of when or how they will know that they are "done". It’s too big to think of getting the dissertation "done"- this is not a very workable goal from a time management stance. Instead, define time and task parameters for each chapter or part of the project, and note milestones or markers along the way.
