One of the fastest (and best) ways to build dissertation momentum is to spend at least 15-20 minutes on the dissertation most days of the week. I think it’s best to take at least one full day off from the dissertation each week- especially if you work full-time and/or have full-time childcare/household responsibilities. You need some time to relax and play, too! If you spend even a little time on your dissertation for most days of each week, this allows you to accomplish several important tasks: -The project remains in your mind and experience, so you’re more connected to it -Little bits of time, used well, add up to significant progress -It can be easier to get into (and out of) the working process In the same way you exercise regularly, eat regularly, sleep regularly (at least we hope all these are true), spend time on your dissertation regularly, too. My clients who finish fastest are those who spend at least a little time on the dissertation most days of the week. [Publication note: next blog entry will be made early next week- I'm taking a few days off to play- "see" you when I get back!]
