Even if you are focused on completing your dissertation, and you work regularly on it, you can still experience feelings of anxiety, tension or worry, evidenced by thoughts like, "Will I finish?……" "What if I never finish…….?"
Thoughts like these can stress you out, and distract you from the task in front of you.
When you feel worried or anxious about the future, just remind yourself: if you are taking all the actions you can take right now, the future will take care of itself.
When you work steadily on a goal, without fail, you will reach the goal. The timing may be a bit different than you planned, and the goal might seem different than you thought, but a plan plus action always equals results.
The next time you find yourself fretting about the unknown (will I finish? what if I never finish?), turn these questions into something new: How can I finish? What will it take to finish? And then take the next action that you think of.
Remember, I always say that small actions can lead to big results. This holds true in the dissertation process, and in life.
