Writing the dissertation is a test of your discipline and focus. The best way to build your focus is to discipline yourself to write on a regular schedule. I often suggest that my clients consider writing the dissertation to be non-negotiable, and a habit- like brushing your teeth or taking a shower every day. Instead of taking 10 minutes to think about working on the dissertation, spend 10 minutes a day writing it. This little dose of discipline will get you focused and moving ahead- in this case, you put a little bit in, and get a lot back.
