When you’ve had a lag in your dissertation progress and notice that you haven’t been working on it lately, aim to get back to working as soon as possible. It doesn’t matter how long or short your first work session is. What’s most important is that you overcome the procrastination/fear/ avoidance that is holding you back- and you can do this by actually sitting down and starting to work. Even if you are up again in 5 minutes, you’ve done some good by recommitting yourself to the dissertation. Whenever you have been away from the dissertation for a while, take action to get back to it as soon as possible.
